Few of Jane's letters survive from this time when she lived in Bath and Southampton, but by delving into the worlds of her contemporaries, it is possible to discover what the family were doing and where Jane was involved.

This novel continues where The Austens of Steventon left off, but can also be enjoyed on its own as explanations of family history are provided where needed.
